Histopathologic examination of veterinary biopsy and necropsy specimens is the centerpiece of our diagnostic practice

Submissions from domestic, exotic, avian and reptile species are all a part of our practice

Biopsies for evaluation of skin disease are a focal point of our efforts

Examination of routine cytologic specimens is also an important service we provide our veterinary clients

Formalin filled jars, zipper seal plastic bags, crush-proof cardboard boxes and postage paid mailers are provided

Specimens are sent to us via the US Postal Service using our prepaid mailers

Veterinarians do not need to establish an account to submit diagnostic specimens

Invoices are mailed the middle of each month and payable within 30 days

SUBMISSIONS

  • Tissues should be submitted in 10% neutral buffered formalin
  • Submission materials can be obtained at no charge by filling out a supply request form and faxing it to us.
  • You can also download or print your submission form from our website.
Steps for specimen submissions:
  1. Place specimen in tightly sealed formalin-filled container
  2. Place formalin container inside sealed plastic bag
  3. Place plastic bag in crush proof cardboard box with absorbent towel
  4. Please combine multiple biopsies in one mailing box
  5. Tape box closed and place in stamped plastic mail pouch
  6. Apply return address and seal pouch!
  7. Mail via US Postal Service--confirmation delivery may be added at your post office

2Additional routine biopsies are $15.00 each (call for necropsy price).
3Charge in addition to the normal biopsy price; Whole organs include kidneys, testicles, ovaries, digits, etc. Large specimens measure > 6 cm along their largest dimension.
4Individual cases or specimens that require more than one box for shipping will be charged an additional $9.00 per utilized box. Prices include the cost of prepaid shipping. Written reports include a gross description of the submitted tissue, a histologic description, a diagnosis and a comment. Results are typically ready 24-36 hours after samples are received. Prices effective 2/1/19

ABOUT US

Keystone Veterinary Pathology is a privately owned and operated diagnostic pathology practice. Located in south central Pennsylvania, Keystone Veterinary Pathology currently provides histopathology and cytology services to veterinary clinics throughout the Eastern United States.

We emphasize quality diagnostics, thorough tissue evaluation and description and prompt reporting via phone, fax, email and mail. Communication between the pathologist and clinician is one of the most important aspects of our diagnostic process.

Our pathologist is Daniel Dunmore, DVM.Dr. Dunmore Dr. Dunmore worked in small animal and food animal practices following graduation from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. After earning a M.S. degree in ecology from The Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Dunmore completed a residency in anatomic pathology at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and was board certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathology (anatomic pathology) in 2001. Dr. Dunmore established Keystone Veterinary Pathology in 2003 after returning to his native keystone state.

When not working, Dr. Dunmore can often be found outside with his family enjoying life in Westylvania
